Makeup tip!

I have found the perfect way to get my eyeliner to stay put for the entire day! This isn't something brand new, I have read about this a million times, but now after trying it I have to say that it does work and makes a difference:)

Step 1: Line your eyes with your favourite black eyeliner:) (I heart Urban Decay's liner in Zero)

Step 2: Using an eyeliner brush (I heart MAC 266), dab it into a dark black eyeshadow (I heart MAC's carbon) and lightly pat it on top of your black liner.

In two easy steps, you have got lined eyes that won't smudge or be disappearing any time soon! :)

Cherry Culture is having a 20% sale off all orders until September 30th!

All you have to do is use the code: FS20 before you sign out:) I picked up some Milani blushes, since I have heard so much about them and they tend to be on most MAC/NARS blush dupe lists:)

The thing I can't wait for are the NYX Candy Glitter Liners- I got one in gold and one in silver. Love using a little glitter in my inner eye to really make my eyes pop for an evening look:)

The Hills Alumni

Whitney Port has moved on from the Hills to her very own show and a promising fashion collection. I was really surprised at Whitney's pieces...they are making me wish we can fast forward through the fall/winter seasons and just start the spring season already!

I'm back! :)

I realized that I still have people checking my blog even though I'm not posting something, and that every time I do post it doesn't have to be that elaborate. I have come to the realization that some days I'll have better posts than other days, and that is okay!:)

I love posting stuff that I can refer back to as well- so I'm coming back and I can't believe how much I missed blogging:)

Hope your all doing good- the weather is getting cooler, which I don't mind except for being sick the past week..NOT FUN! I am looking forward to more layering and dressing up in fall fashions:)

Have a great weekend- talk to you soon!

Maybe.....the end?

As you can tell my posts have become far less frequent...Unfortunately I don't have that much time as I did in the summer to post, the time that I do have I'm trying to catch up on all the blogs I love!

I think I will take a break, and resume when I feel like it and am excited to do so...until then you might hear from me, and you might not BUT I will be reading each and every one of your blogs!

Before I sign off- if you are ever thinking between Nine West or Aldo Shoes...go with Nine West! Especially for work- where you will be walking all day. I wore my Aldo shoes last Wednesday all day to work, and came home with both of my feet bleeding and blisters. It was so bad, that even today (4 days later) I have skin literally peeled off by the shoes and I can not stand on my feet for more than 10 minutes.

In contrast, I have worn my Nine West pumps all day and yes my feet are tired, but I have never had the shoes dig into my skin the same way:S Today, I attended Rubex's engagement (who looked super gorgeous and hot by the way! ;) and yes I am an idiot...I wore my 5 inch Aldo gold heels...my coworkers told me not to and wear something flat to give my feet some rest.

But, I thought it wouldn't be bad since I would only be wearing them for the evening. I can not explain the pain my feet went through and are going through as I type this...I had to sit for most of the time...the thing that gets me is Aldo shoes are not cheap, they should not be this painful to wear! Am I doing something wrong, should I be purchasing something to insert into my shoes?

What to wear to the....office

I love when stores put outfits together, they are a great source of inspiration. I like all of these outfits from Banana Republic but I wouldn't buy any of these pieces at regular prices, I would definitely check out their sales rack for these items!

I like the idea of seeing what looks good together, and then look for something comparable at a lower price point. I should note, sometimes it is worth paying a little bit more money for certain pieces because the material and quality will be better.

Tidbit: I was looking for a pencil skirt and in my search found a black one at Dynamite, and I found a greyish/black one at Smart Set. When I tried both of them on, the clear winner was the more expensive one (but not by that much, since I got it on sale:) at Smart Set. The fit, the stretch, and material for something like a pencil skirt should be perfect...otherwise, you might end up with an outfit that looks cheap. From what I have learned, you want to purchase economical priced clothing items...but you never want to look cheap!

This is obviously common sense, however I see one to many people purchasing clothing that may not be flattering but they simply get it either because 1. it was on sale, or 2. because of the label. It is more important to see how it fits on you irregardless of the price point. You can find amazing stuff on either spectrum of the pricing range...which is a good thing for someone like me who is always trying to look good while saving money:)

Here are some of my favourite work outfits from their lookbook to draw some inspiration from:

Even though I did not feature dress pants in any of these looks, does anybody have any suggestions for nice pants - stylish, comfortable, and offered at good price points? Please leave a comment below:)

Have a broken eyeshadow?

I had three eyeshadows that were all crumbled and even though they were some of my favourite colours, I was unable to use them without creating a big mess!

So, I searched youtube and found this super easy tutorial on how to fix broken powder products! Now, I can use them with ease...ahh I love youtube:)

Note: The woodwinked came out with a funky pattern, because I used a weird patterned fabric:S oops!

Help needed - Part 1

I received this lovely mineral eyeshadow set from a friend, and I adore the colours....only problem, I don't know how to really work with them on my eyes so that they stay on for a long time and stay vibrant.

I love the colours, and they all have a little bit of glitter- so they look super pretty on the eye. Just now 100% sure of how to use them, I have tried MAC's Fix+ to make it vibrant, but it literally becomes sticky and I can not distribute it evenly all over my eye lids.

Here are the swatches of the colours- sorry they don't have names:

If anybody has this product, or has any ideas for me to use it properly...please leave a comment:) Thanks!

If your interested in the product, here is a link:
http://www.faces-cosmetics.com/cart/productsmaint.asp?mainid=133&menu=64&subid=1143

What the website says:
For eyes that have been kissed by the sun, this 8 stack warms you with shades of gold, buttercup, copper and bronze, for a true island glow.

Over 30, highly concentrated shimmer powders. Made from 100% Mica, these high pigment loose powders are in demand! The versatility of the product allows them to be used alone or mixed with your favourite nail polish and lip gloss to create many of new shades! Sold individually or in stacks, use them to dress up you current eye look or to create shimmery, sultry eyes. Mix with any of faces eye primer to achieve a dramatic look that will make heads turn.

***

I'm so silly, after going on the website I think I answered my own question...but if you guys have any other suggestions just let me know:)

I think I will purchase the Faces eye primer, it will probably make the colours more vibrant! I should have gone on their website earlier, but I never personally purchased the product and was a little hesitant to use the product even though I loved the colours. Working with pigments are a little more difficult then regular shadow for me...I'll let you guys know how the eye primer works out:)

The Hills are almost back!

I love the Hills...and am a big fan of Lauren Conrad. I will be tuning in to see how the show is, even after she has left...I'm sure Kristin will bring the drama.

Last time I checked, it will be premiering on September 29th at 10 pm!

Even though Lauren will be missing from this new season, I think she will still be in the news because of her clothing line, makeup stuff with Mark cosmetics, and also because like it or not the girl has created many trends and is watched to see what kind of outfits she is wearing.

Here are scans from her latest promotional pics for Mark cosmetics (love the pink lips and cheeks!):

{Image source: LagunaLovers}

Here is a scan from SHAPE magazine, the Protein monster looks interesting:

{Image source: hillsfreak.blogspot.com}

Finally, here is a two-part tutorial on how to get a dewy face and eye makeup like Lauren Conrad (by youtuber: dazzledust25 - love her channel!)

Can you tell that I am a fan? I mean I don't know any of the girls on the Hills personally (obviously! lol), but I like the way Lauren has taken the success of the show and gone further on to other projects. Plus, I am a big fan of her style...she wears things that look good on her and sticks to it. In my opinion, she's always dignified in the way she handles things...having rumors about you and having to deal with enemies like Speidi (biggest idiots ever!) must not always be fun, but she handles herself really well. Okay enough of this Lauren Love fest...have a great day!

Deal of the moment...

Last week I went shopping with one of my cousins, and we ventured into Suzy shier (Heartland location). We passed by all of the clothes, and went straight to the accessories rack. We noticed a sign that said 2 for $5.00, and were like okay let's start searching:)

I grabbed these two necklaces for $5.00 people- a big mac meal costs more! :)

I liked the beads on Necklace 1- it's large but the neutral colours don't make it look too crazy!

Just a "pearl" necklace- looks good long and doubled up:)

* Sorry for the crappy pics- I know they are not of the best quality...but ya know how I said I was going to get better at photographing this summer...yeah that kind of did not happen! (I don't even know where the self-timer feature is on my camera...eek!) Where did the summer go?

Hope you all have a great week!
To all the people going back to uni or starting uni for the first time this week- have fun:)
To all the kids going back to school- you still have one more week...enjoy what's left of your summer! :)

I love necklaces - big, small, long...all of them! But my favourite type has to be- the "statement" necklaces- the type that you can just put on and they are the focus:)

I'm wanting this one by Kenneth Jay Lane right now...gorgeous- if only the price was in the two digits rather than three!

Product Regret

I am going to start to feature items that I did not like and will not repurchase!

Also, if you have purchased any of the items I feature and love it...then please share how you use it or how it works for you...I would love to get some input and maybe end up loving a product that I think I hate!

Product Regret #1: MAC Holiday 2008 Collection- Infatuating Rose 6 Cool Eyes

The eyeshadows included in this mini kit are:
* Satisfy
* Cavort
* Bon Fete
* Platonic
* Feast
* Deep Feelings

For reference I use MAC's Studio Fix Powder in C4 and am a big MAC fan! I LOVE LOVE LOVE every single MAC eye shadow that I own, and have never had issues with colour payoff and quality. They always last long, go on smoothly, and have excellent colour payoff in my experience.

I thought I would love this product as well, and it it is hard to admit this, after many failed attempts...but I hate this product! It might have something to do with the fact that I like veluxe pearl finishes (and there is only one in the whole set!), but overall I find when I use these colours my eyes look dull and tired, and I find it hard to create eye looks that make my eyes look good!

Maybe the other sets are better, but I chose the Infatuating Rose collection because it was more purple based...which is one of my favourite colours for eye makeup! But, the chalkiness of some of the shadows and colour payoff isn't the greatest, when I swatched them they looked good, but on my eyes it is a different story! For some reason, I don't feel I am getting the same quality of a full sized MAC eyeshadow.

I have tried this with MAC paint and paint pots as a base, and they help prevent creasing but I still am not happy with the final product. Definitely will not be repurchasing any MAC sets...will stick to single shadows, which I am never disappointed with!

Have you purchased this product? Did you love it, if so please feel free to share any tips..would love to be able to use this palette:)

What I'm loving right now...

After checking out Lena's post on Rexall/Pharma Plus's mascara event - I had to drop by and pick some up...at 50% off I couldn't resist!

Here is some of the other stuff I picked up - all at Rexall and the Alien perfume sample is from the Bay...am really liking this new perfume, I don't like the original it was a little to strong, but the new version is really nice.

Anyways, I picked up 2 L'Oreal Voluminous mascaras- because this mascara always works on me. I was going to pick up CoverGirl's LashBlast, but the current one I am using is not doing anything for my lashes.

I also picked up Rimmel's Sexy Curves mascara, mainly because it came with a eyeliner and I figured that was a great deal. I wasn't expecting anything from this mascara but I have to say...I am LOVING it! I paid $4.00 and I use two coats, and my lashes are thick, and long...just the way I love them. I can't stop staring at my lashes, I have not had them look this good since I last used DiorShow mascara!

Thought I would do a quick post in case you haven't gone to the sale yet...check out Lena's blog for more details about the sale and if your not sure what to pick up, you can't go wrong with Rimmel's Sexy Curves Mascara, even if it doesn't work out it's only $4 and you still have an awesome eye liner :)
